The First Sunday of Lent was also the third Sunday of our celebration of Black History Month. That’s usually the week we go a bit bigger — special music, liturgical dance, a guest preacher and an after-service meal.
Sydney Johnson sang with her dad, Tim, “trying to keep up” (his words) on guitar. The dancers from Donna’s Dance, a studio led by Donna Apperson, showed how the Holy Spirit can shine in our movements.
The Rev. James Brown returned to our pulpit to tell us how Jesus revealed his faith in God.
And then, as Methodists know how to do all too well, we gathered for food and fellowship.
