Dear Friends:
As we create a 2021 Budget, Finance contemplates making some changes to the way the budget is developed and presented. You may recall that Pastor Pat discussed the notion of our budget being static; not having changed over several decades. Pastor Cho has extended this view by emphasizing the need for a narrative budget that can be shared with the congregation.
Instead of simply a general fund budget in 2021, we will attempt to develop a more encompassing document that includes all our activities, integrating dollars, people and ministry to tell the story of our Church’s mission and ministry.
The finance committee will meet in mid-November to review budget requests, using your completed budget request forms (see link above). We may be back in touch with questions, or to get more information from you. In December, we’ll present a 2021 Budget to Council for approval, and send a narrative budget to the congregation. The narrative budget will give a vision of ministry, rather than just a spreadsheet of line items, and reflect how OHUMC spends its time, talent and treasure in a different way, rather than just how we pay our bills.
If you have questions about the budget development process, please contact our Treasurer. Thanks for your help and work which helps ensure that Oxon Hill UMC
remains a vibrant community of faith for many years to come.
Faithfully,
OHUMC Finance Ministry
