There are three bits of news involving clergy in the Baltimore-Washington Conference that have Oxon Hill connections.
- Our very own Pastor Pat is graduating with her doctorate from Wesley Theological Seminary. The commencement ceremony is Monday, May 13 at 2 p.m. at Washington National Cathedral. The ceremony will be live-streamed on the WTS web site — https://www.wesleyseminary.edu/ . Our celebration of this joyous occasion will be after worship on Sunday, May 19. So bring your party self!
- Our district superintendent — Rev. Rebecca Iannicelli — is moving from being DS of the Washington East district to the Annapolis district. She is juggling both responsibilities now but will fully transition to Annapolis on July 1.
We first met Rebecca — what, 20+ years ago? — when she came to our church with her son Aaron, who was knee-high to most everything at the time. (He ain’t knee-high to nothin’ now!) It was while a member at OHUMC that she found her calling to ministry and, something more important, her husband, Steve.
The churches of Washington East will be holding a celebration of service for Rebecca on Sunday, June 2 at the Charles County Fairgrounds in La Plata at 3 p.m. If you are interested in attending, add your name to the sign-up sheet in the narthex by MAY 12 so that we may provide the planners with the number of people we expect to have. Also, the district wants a photo of each church and its congregation to give to Rebecca and we will be taking our photo(s) also on May 12. - Former OHUMC pastor Rev. Miguel Balderas is being reappointed from Millian Memorial UMC in Rockville to Liberty Grove UMC in Burtonsville, Md.
