HAPPY NEW YEAR!
May the new year bring you peace, prosperity and a greater relationship with God. Here’s what’s on tap this month at Oxon Hill UMC:
SATURDAY JAN 12: We cannot walk into this year without being prepared. Therefore EVERYONE (ministry leaders and non ministry leaders) is invited to participate in our Churchwide Leading 2019 Spiritual Retreat! This time of retreat will be 10 am – 2 pm in the Social Hall. Bring a Bible and a desire to be involved in what God is doing on the corner of Bock and Livingston.
SUNDAY JAN 13: After the 10:30 worship service, head down to the Social Hall where our youth will be serving their annual Help-Us-Get-To-ROCK fundraiser brunch. The menu features pancakes, eggs, sausage, bacon, fruit, juice, coffee, tea, and maybe even a surprise or two. Also this Sunday is the monthly Worship Ministry meeting (but you can grab a plate from the brunch so it’ll be a eat-while-you-meet situation).
SUNDAY JAN 20: The Church Council will meet after worship. Just like with the retreat, everyone is welcome to the meeting. While only some have vote, ALL have voice in the United Methodist Church.
SUNDAY JAN 27 to SUNDAY FEB 3: This is our week to host the county’s Warm Nights program. We will make our building available for those without a place to lay their head each night and for that, we need help. On 1/27, we need help unloading the vans as they come from the previous site. On 2/3, the same help is needed to load. Each night, we need meal makers, overnight monitors, cleaner-uppers (that’s a technical term) and, you know what, people to just show up and show a friendly face, a hearty hug or handshake and a comforting smile. See Cindy Cobleigh on Sundays to see what you can do.
